The Georgian Military Road from Zhinvali reservoir to the Arch of Friendship and Stepantsminda: Ananuri fortress, the meeting of two Aragvi rivers and views of Mount Kazbek.
We leave Tbilisi at 8:45 on a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter with air conditioning and heating, a group of up to 19 people. We drive north along the Georgian Military Road, toward the Caucasus range.
After an hour, the first stop: turquoise Zhinvali reservoir. Twenty minutes from there, Ananuri fortress right on the water's edge, one of the most photogenic spots in Georgia.
Another 40 minutes on, near Pasanauri, we watch the Black and White Aragvi rivers meet: two rivers of different colors flowing into one right before your eyes. Between Pasanauri and Gudauri we stop at a restaurant for lunch.
Further on, 30 to 40 minutes' drive, the Arch of Friendship with its panoramic mosaic and a view of the whole Caucasus range. From here it is another 40 minutes to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi). Anyone who wants to go up to Gergeti monastery can switch to jeeps, the ride up is paid separately, 20 ₾ per person, optional.
The drive back takes 2.5 to 3 hours, and we return to Tbilisi by 20:00.
